Run flat tyres supplied and fitted

A run flat tyre carries the weight of your vehicle when it starts to lose pressure. Its reinforced sidewall lets you drive on for a limited distance at reduced speed, so you can reach safety without changing a wheel on the roadside or on a busy motorway.

How far can you drive on a run flat?

Manufacturers say run flat tyres can be driven for 30 to 50 miles at reduced speed. Treat that as a way to reach a garage if you cannot do anything else, and have the tyre inspected as soon as possible. How far you can actually go depends on the damage and on the weather.

If a run flat loses pressure, get it inspected as soon as possible.

How do you know your car has run flat tyres?

Each manufacturer uses different names for run flat technology. You may have heard Puncture Proof, Run on Flat, Self Supporting, ContiSeal or Driveguard.

Look for these markings on the sidewall: DSST (Dunlop), HRS (Hankook), RFT, ROF, Run Flat, SSR (Continental) or ZP (Michelin). Not sure? Call us and we will help.

Can a run flat tyre be repaired?

It depends on the manufacturer, but in most cases you will need a replacement. The reinforced sidewall makes a run flat much harder to repair, although some specialists can do it.

How will you know you have a puncture?

It is harder to tell on a run flat than on a standard tyre. Every vehicle that suits run flat tyres has a tyre pressure monitoring system, which shows a warning on the dashboard if pressure drops.

We stock a large range of run flat tyres to suit every budget. Set your size in the tyre finder or call us.
