Wheel balancing for a smooth drive
Whenever new tyres go on, the wheels need balancing so the weight is spread evenly. We do it at your door, with the tyre fitting or on its own.

Why balance matters
Balancing makes the tyre and wheel spin evenly. We place small weights on the rim to correct any uneven spots.
Unbalanced wheels show up as vibration in the steering wheel, uneven or fast tyre wear, and even a small rise in fuel use. Kerbs, potholes and tight corners can knock a wheel out of balance over time, especially at the front.
Signs yours need doing
- A shake in the steering wheel or dashboard, usually at motorway speeds.
- Tyres wearing unevenly or faster than they should.
- Worn suspension parts, which unbalanced wheels wear faster.
Balancing is included with every tyre fitting. If you only want the wheels checked, see our wheel balance check.
Balancing questions
Will balancing stop my car pulling to one side?
No. Pulling is usually an alignment problem, not a balance one. See 2 wheel alignment and 4 wheel alignment.
When should wheels be balanced?
Whenever a tyre is fitted or repaired, when you feel vibration, and after a hard kerb or pothole strike.
Can I have wheels balanced without new tyres?
Yes. Our wheel balance check is priced per wheel, so you pay only for the wheels that need it.
Can you do it at my home?
Yes. The fitter comes to your home, workplace or the roadside, anytime and anywhere.
