Wheel balance check, priced per wheel
If the car shakes through the steering wheel, check the balance. We check and rebalance wheel by wheel, so you pay for the wheels that need it.

Why check
Incorrect wheel balance causes vibration through the steering wheel and dashboard, and wears your tyres and suspension parts early. Bumps and cornering change the balance over time, so it is worth having wheels checked regularly.
We charge per wheel and quote the price before we set out.
What we do
Check the wheel
The wheel is spun and measured to find any imbalance.
Correct it
We add small weights to the rim until the wheel is balanced.
Refit and confirm
We refit the wheel to the right torque and check the result with you.
Balance or alignment?
The two get mixed up because both affect how the car feels. Balance is about weight spread evenly around the wheel. Alignment is about the angle the wheels meet the road.
- Vibration
- A shake in the steering wheel or the car that comes and goes with speed usually points to balance.
- Pulling to one side
- A car that drifts or a steering wheel that sits off-centre usually points to alignment.
Wheel balance check questions
Do I pay for all four wheels?

Is balancing included when I buy new tyres?
Yes. Balancing is part of every tyre fitting. This page is for when you only want the wheels checked.
How often should wheels be checked?
Whenever you notice vibration, after a hard kerb or pothole strike, and when a tyre is fitted or repaired.
